Having prepared the data for import (please see MIS specific instructions on how to do this) you can now add your contacts and attendance information (where supported) in to Messenger v5. Please note, you will need to be logged in as an Admin user in order to complete this process - an Admin Guide is available if you need clarification on what this means.
From the Welcome Screen, select the 'Admin' option.
Now select the 'Upload' Option.
From here, you will be taken to the upload data screen. You will see the history of previously uploaded datasets as well as the option to browse to the most recently saved dataset.
In order to upload the data, simply 'Browse...' and find the file(s) you prepared earlier and select 'Upload and Process'.
Whilst the data is uploading you will see a black screen with white text, as shown below, saying 'Importing'.
This can take some time, depending on the size of the dataset you are importing. You do not need to remain on the import page whilst it uploads, we suggest coming back later to check on the process. When it is complete, you will see an 'Import Successful' or an error message accordingly.
If you do encounter an error, there can often be simple ways to fix the problem without needing the help of Groupcall Support.
This error is likely caused by an improperly formatted file being used for upload. Ensure that there are no blank rows or other lines of text before the Column Headings - e.g. "StudentID", "Forename" etc.
When you see 'Import Successful', your data is available for use within Messenger v5! You'll need to repeat the import for any subsequent import types, such as contacts or attendance as appropriate.
