Messenger v5 Access

The system is accessed via a web based interface and therefore requires access to the following URLs through any firewall or proxy your school may have in place to operate effectively, allowing you to log-in to the user interface and perform core tasks.

To take full advantage of Messenger v5's anytime, anywhere access features, the PC/Laptop/Tablet/Smartphone which you access the user interface from, should also have access to the above URLs. This could also include staff member's homes.

Internet Browsers for Messenger v5 Access

To maintain compatibility with all features and provide the best security features as delivered by each browser, we recommend that you use the latest version of your internet browser to which you have access.

The minimum versions of each main browser required for M5 to function are;

  • IE – v10+ (v8+ will work, but has some limitations)
  • Chrome – v4.0.223+
  • Firefox – v4.0+
  • Safari – v4.0.5+
  • Opera – v11+

If you have an unsupported browser, please speak with your organisation's IT department to get your browser upgraded. If for any reason you require the older browser (e.g. for a legacy application) please install an additional supported browser alongside the older one (i.e. you need Internet Explorer 6 to operate an old piece of software. As Internet Explorer 6 is an insecure browser you will need to use, for example, Google Chrome to access Messenger v5. The 2 browsers can be run side-by-side without issue).

Xporter & Messenger v5

There are no items within Messenger v5 that require local installation; however, an installation of Groupcall Xporter will sometimes be required to populate Messenger v5 with the schools contact information and other associated information.

Whether or not a local installation of Xporter or a new centralised installation is required will rely on several factors - the MIS, the location that the MIS is installed and if the MIS is Hosted by an LA/third party etc.

 

To work out what, if any, Xporter installation you need, simply select your MIS below and then select the relevant options.

SIMS is installed locally in the school

You need an installation of Xporter, which will be carried out by the Groupcall Support team.

Please see our guide Installing Xporter for Messenger v5 to give you an idea of what will be required. Please ensure you have met the Xporter pre-requisites in advance of the installation.

Installed Centrally at a Local Authority

You will need to speak to the relevant Local Authority in the first instance. They will then need to contact Groupcall Support so that we may have a technical discussion with them to facilitate the installation. We cannot do this on your behalf as we are not authorised to make such requests of school data as a third party.

Installed at another school (e.g. a high school)

You will need to speak to the relevant School/Third Party in the first instance. They will then need to contact Groupcall Support so that we may have a technical discussion with them to facilitate the installation. We cannot do this on your behalf as we are not authorised to make such requests of school data as a third party.

CMIS is installed in our school

You need an installation of Xporter, which will be carried out by the Groupcall Support team.

Please see our guide Installing Xporter for Messenger v5 to give you an idea of what will be required. Please ensure you have met the Xporter pre-requisites in advance of the installation.

Installed Centrally at a Local Authority

Installed at another school/third party (e.g. a local high school)

Our G2/S2 is a standard installation and is run by RM.

Xporter is already installed in the RM data centre.

Pembrokeshire

You will need to speak to Pembrokeshire Integris support in the first instance. They will then need to contact Groupcall Support so that we may have a technical discussion with them to facilitate the installation.

Carmarthenshire

You will need to speak to Carmarthenshire Integris support in the first instance. They will then need to contact Groupcall Support so that we may have a technical discussion with them to facilitate the installation.

A third party not listed

Please contact them directly in the first instance.

Our Click and Go is a standard installation and is run by SEEMiS.

No Xporter installation is required as Click and Go works natively cloud-to-cloud with Messenger. You will need to invoke AIS (Acceptance Into Service) access from your Local Authority. In most cases the Local Authority will have invoked AIS on a school's behalf for the whole authority at once. Once invoked the required setup actions will be undertaken automatically and no further action from you will be required. You will be given Messenger access information in due course, most likely as part of training.

Our Progresso is a standard installation and is run by Advanced Learning.

No Xporter installation is required as Progresso works natively cloud-to-cloud with Messenger. You will need your Progresso ID (available from the Advanced Learning support team) and 'Third Party Provider' access will need to be configured from within Progresso (this can be done from the API licences tab within Progresso).

Installed locally in the school

You need an installation of Xporter, which will be carried out by the Groupcall Support team.

WCBS Pass is installed locally in the school
