Messenger 5 – Country Codes

Messenger v5 can be configured with local country settings so that when the message is sent, for example, to a parent out of the country on business, the message will still be delivered.

This information does not apply for contacts that have 'foreign numbers' such as a pupil from France whose mother may have a French mobile phone - in this instance the number needs to be stored in the MIS in the correct format. Messenger can handle foreign numbers coming from the MIS without issue.

Account SettingsWhen your account was set-up, our installation team would have entered the relevant country code in your account settings page; however if you need to change it, from within Messenger go to Tools > Account Settings and then enter the relevant number into the Country Code field. Be sure to click Submit to save this new setting.

The way this information is handled 'behind the scenes'  differs between countries. We have configured certain "scripting logics" for a number of localities (based on our customer base and the frequency to which those countries are contacted).

Each country has its own dialling rules when calling numbers internationally. In the table below you will see examples for the 7 countries for which we currently have "scripting logics" - as you can see, some drop the leading zero, others do not and simply append the code at the start of the number.
